Yesterday, around 10.000 people marched against the detention center for migrants (CIE) of Rome Ponte Galeria. In the days before police arrested 17 comrades from the movement for the right to the house very active in the mobilization against the CIE and deported back to their countries several migrants that did the hunger strike against the detention. The same day of the march cops confiscated the truck with the amplification, making impossible to communicate during the demonstration.

These facts didn’t stop the determination of the protesters. The massive demonstration took the streets with the slogan: “Shutdown Ponte Galeria and alla detention camps”. Migrants, activists, movements for the right to the house, anti-racist networks and associations stated clearly that there is no more space for these places in Italy and in Europe.

In front of the CIE people sang “freedom, hurryia, libertà”, while the migrants detained answered shouting “libertà, libertà!”. The protesters attacked the cops that were defending the detention camp and eradicated the networks that were in front of the big wall.
