Τhe 50 migrant workers on the 7th floor of the Labor Centre in Thessaloniki have been on hunger strike for 12 days now. Τhe first signs of fatigue are now becoming apparent. They are determined to continue the hunger strike. Their spirits are high.

 

In the morning, texts were read out and leaflets were distributed around an infopoint set up to publicize the hunger strike with a PA system at the Anargyron square in the upper town. In the evening solidarity concert at the square in front of the Labor Centre was very successful. One of the hunger strikers borrowed the guitar of one of the bands and played two songs composed during the hunger strike. One of them said: The night is falling, the match is going out, we are still holding on.

Tomorrow, on Sunday February 6, on the 1st floor of the Labor Centre there will be an open meeting of information and coordination of solidarity actions called by first degree trade unions of hire-work engineers and technicians, education workers, precarious workers in education and exclusive nurses.

 

The Open Solidarity Initiative invites everyone to the interventions and solidarity actions in the next days:

On Tuesday, Feb 8, a march in the Western neighborhoods will depart at 6pm from the Ambelokipi Square.

On Thursday, Feb 10, a march in the Toumba area will depart at 6pm from Aghia Varvara church.

On Friday, Feb 11, a solidarity rally will start at 6pm from the Venizelou statue, as part of the EUROPEAN DAY OF SOLIDARITY ACTIONS TO THE 300 MIGRANT HUNGER STRIKERS
