9thday of hunger strike

The 50 migrant workers at the Labor Centre in Thessaloniki continue the hunger strike with determination. They are on their nineth day of fasting, and the medical team says they have lost weight as expected.

The 50 hunger strikers recorded a video message to their comrades in struggle, the hunger strikers in Athens. An excerpt from the message: “We have been following the events and we know the difficulties you have been facing in Athens (…) We admire you for your courage. We are all well, but if one of you suffers, all of us suffer.”

The demo on motorcycles in the Western neighborhoods of the city, where many immigrants are living, was completed with success. It was received by cheering passersby on many occasions and thousands of leaflets, in many languages, were distributed.

The Open Initiative is calling for a solidarity march on Thursday at 6pm from the Venizelos statue. It is also preparing for publicity actions on Saturday and Sunday, meetings with unions next Monday and next Friday, as well as an international day of action of solidarity to the 300 hunger strikers next week.
