8th day of hunger strike

The 50 migrant workers at the Labor Centre in Thessaloniki continue the hunger strike with determination. They are on their eightth day of fasting, and the medical team says they have lost weight as expected.

Amongst many messages of support that arrived today, we note the solidarity of Ulysses the Voluntary School for Immigrants, of the Union of Translators and Text Editors, as well as that of the Union of Intern Students at the University Dormitories of Thessaloniki.

As part of the publicity campaign for the hunger strike, members of the Open Solidarity Initiative successfully occupied two radio stations (Republic 100.3FM and Kosmoradio 95.1), interrupted the stations’ programme and read out the hunger strikers’ demands on air.

Tomorrow the Open Solidarity Initiative is calling a demo on motorcycles and cars at 6pm at the Labor Centre, on Thursday a solidarity march at 6pm at the Venizelos statue and on Saturday an open air concert in front of the Labor Centre.
