Solidarity with the fishworkers strike, against bosses and their far-right thugs.

Early on Sunday, Feb 28, members of the PAME [CP trade Union] attempted to make a public intervention at the Michaniona Sq. in support of the Egyptian fishworkers strike which is now in its 7th week. There they came across a small mob of 60 trawler owners and local far right thugs who assaulted on no pretext the PAME members, who finally pushed the attackers back.
In the previous night the same mob had broken into the houses of fishworkers and injured five of them.
Bosses’ inability to come to terms with the determination and militancy of the strikers turns them into the most hideous acts of hatred. This time the bosses showed their real face: the face of a gang who exploits the sweat of others. In their dirty work they find accomplices among the far right scum, who think they have discovered the enemy in the face of immigrant workers.
As an assembly we see this unprovoked assault as unaccepetable, and we are confirmed that a small gang of bosses and far-rights will not be tolerated in dragging the whole village’s name through the mire to serve their pity interests. The local community and the people of Thessaloniki individually and through their collective bodies must stand next to the strikers and ask themselves “how does the fish reach our tables everyday”.
ASSAULTS ON STRIKERS AND IMMIGRANTS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.
