According to many sources, the participation of immigrants in the demonstrations for the 1st of May in Athens and around Greece was much greater than previous years.   Many immigrants, even “sans papiers” ones, showed great courage in joining the protests and demanding that the recent daemonization of immigrants for criminality and economic “crisis”, the sweep operations, the evacuation of buildings where refugees find shelter, the gross injustices with the residence permits, all racism and discrimination cease.

This is an encouraging sign of convergence of struggles.  The situation of immigrants gets very ugly, and the promotion of racism must be combatted with all our strength.
